From Jamie:

This book

is like a Disney movie on crack.

I'm reading a book from the same series and I vehemently agree with this statement.

I'm curious... (actually, my husband is curious and I'm just more blabby than he is) Does the being "on crack" thing mean the book is insane and makes you go WTF?!! Or does it mean that it's a total high and better than Disney movies?

The first one. It has just about every fairy tale creature possible and just when you think they couldn't shove any more into one little plot...BAM! They start traveling through time.

Mine has fairy tale creatures PLUS the fairies from A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Good to know. I will mark this off my to-read list!

Question: Do several books from the same series count as a random sample? I would think that if an author writes a book one way, he or she will write all his or her books similarly. Just wondering.

They can, Katie! It all depends on some sort of magical statistical thing I don't entirely understand. I know that I ended up with "It Girl #1" and "It Girl #5" in the sample... not sure why the other ones got left out! Anyway, I think the gist of it is that if an author is writing, say, 20 books out of 100, it would be inaccurate to only look at one of the books because then the weight of that author would only be 1% instead of 20% when the 20% is a closer representation of reality.
