Anyone who reads this a writer?

I need someone out there to bug me so I'll work on my manuscript. My self-discipline has been sucked away in equal proportion to the volume of beta blockers I suck in.

Here's what I want:

I'm making a writing goal. If you want to make a goal too, leave a comment and let us all know what it is. And then use the comment section to report yourself every time you *miss* your goal.

See, I've done the positive reinforcement thing where you celebrate every day that you do your goal. And that way is nice and makes you happy and not filled with self-loathing (the natural state of writers). But that way doesn't work for me at the moment. Hence the new method:

Shame.

So. My goal: Every day (except Sunday) I'm going to write at least two words in my WIP. (This goal gets more done than you'd think. Also, it's about all I can handle with my heart acting like a teenager and throwing fits unpredictably.) Every time I fail to write two words, I will tell you in the comment thread here. And when my WIP is finished, I'll announce it and THEN we can all brag about how awesome we did with our goals. k?

so leave your goals below. and you know what? you don't even have to be a writer. just make a goal and then leave a comment back here every day you fail. the challenge will last from now until my manuscript is finished. (I only have about 60 pages to go; before the skin-graft turned heart-problem, I could do that in a week.)

Best of luck people.

I'm not a writer, but I'll support you in your goal! My goal is to do something fun (out of the house) with Charlie every day. Even if it's just going out in the backyard for an hour.

I'm in. I will probably set outrageously ambitious unrealistic goals and confess all over the place and wallow in shame, but I am in. I have to get one serious rewrite on a creative project done, and one journal article done, sometime before summer.

My goals:
1. On the rewrite: one rewritten chapter per week (that gives me 8 more weeks and about five pages a day).
2. On the article: Read one source per week; write one subheaded section (crappy first draft style) per week.

THESE GOALS SUBJECT TO CHANGE FOR THE WEEK OF FINALS/GRADING (TO NOTHING) AND THE WEEKS FOLLOWING (TO A WHOLE LOT MORE)

My goal: exercise three days a week. Read. Once a day. (I would like to specify that I will be reading scriptures, but let's be honest; I will be lucky to read anything.)

I also will be wallowing in shame. Shame, shame.

SHAME #1: It is 9:15, my kids are still up, I have a stack of tests to grade, and my husband is all about getting to bed at a reasonable hour. So I will not make the 5-pages of rewriting OR even decide on which source to read this week. Wait, yes, I can do the deciding. I can decide which article I will read when I have time, and I will sneak my netbook into the bathroom and read/rewrite while the water for a bath is running. Won't get five pages, but I might get something. If I can get the bathroom to myself. If I can get the kids in and out of THEIR baths. This could be tricky.

Don't write. Don't care.

Hope this tactic works for you, cos I know it's hard to sit down and write.
I would join in but I officially quit writing at the end of last month! Maybe I'll pick it up again in a few years, or sooner if an Agent ever comes back about an MS (which they've had since October!!!)

Yeah so shame totally doesn't work on me. Oh, well. I'll find something that does.
