My Son: Oedipus

Sam: "Oh, Mommy. I sure love you."

Me: "I love you, too, baby boy."

Sam: "I love every PART of you. I love you hair and your eyes and your hands..."

Me: "Wow!"

Sam: "...and your arms and your knees and your ears..."

Me: "Wow!"

Sam: "and how you bring me chocolate milk, and your belly button, and your elbows."

Me: "Wow!"

Sam: "Can we cuddle?"

Me: "Sure. Do you want to watch TV while we cuddle?"

Sam: "No."

Me: "What do you want to do, then?"

Sam: "I'd just like to talk."

Me: "Okay. What would you like to talk about?"

Sam: [adoring look] "You, Mommy. I'd just like to talk about *you.*"

  2. He really said all that?? That is way too cute, what a fun age. I love what kids say, the strangest things come out of their heads. He sures loves his Mommy though.

  3. he says stuff like that prettymuch every day. 4 has definitely been my favorite age so far. (3 was pretty awesome, too, though; I'm actually not a big fan of babies...)

  5. Hey Kerry. I read a comment of yours I liked on FMH and realized, "I actually know this person." I was one of your students in the England and Literature study abroad in 2003.

This story reminds me of a time I was trying on clothes at the mall. The woman in the next stall had her 4ish-year-old son with her in the dressing room.

Mom: How does this look on me?
    Son: Honestly?
    Mom: Yes.
Son: It shows too much back fat.

    O_O
    Your story is much cuter.
